When two year old Sakura first came into our care, she was very fearful and afraid of people. Branch staff are working hard building trust and helping ease her anxiety. With time and lots of love, she is starting to come around!
Soon after arriving, this Sakura started acting strangely, so we reached out to the vet who was unable to see her that day. Sakura became lethargic and her stomach became very hard so the vets recommendation over the phone was to rush her to emergency.
Turns out, she was pregnant! Just two weeks later she had a litter of 12 adorable puppies. In a heartbreaking turn, one of the puppies quietly passed away shortly after being born.
Sakura is overcoming her trust issues with humans and is a very loving mother. Her emergency visit and costs for her ongoing care for her surprise pregnancy added up quickly.
Additionally, did you know it costs more than $400 for the BC SPCA to raise a healthy puppy? They all require check ups, vaccinations, neuters and spays along with plenty of food to help them grow up as healthy as can be.
Will you help by donating to this adorable family’s ongoing care, so they can all find their forever homes?
Personal updates for Sakura & her puppies will be provided to anyone who donates to her campaign.
*Goal includes: surgery, medication, treatment, regular health check, and daily care for Sakura & the puppies until they are ready for adoption. If their medical costs and cost of care is less than is raised in their name, additional funds will provide care for other animals.
