Recent publicity surrounding the death of a sturgeon on display in a Tsawwassen shopping mall draws attention to the decades-old debate over whether fish can think and feel. Though widely used, fish are not very well understood – or appreciated. But, thanks to scientists studying fish around the world, we are discovering more about their mental and emotional capacities all the time.

Another incredible year of the Wildlife-In-Focus photography contest closed with hundreds of images of BC’s diverse wild animals submitted. The contest raised over $13,000 for wildlife in need, and will provide ongoing inspiration for wildlife advocacy and education programs.
