If you ask someone what they think of when you say “BC SPCA,” they will probably say, “Cats and dogs, of course!” – and it’s true. But we help all sorts of other animals, too – including gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits and rats.

Every March we celebrate Small Animal Month. But we think these wonderful animals deserve attention every day of the year!

Jane, Waffles, Emma and Tot are some of our littlest four-legged friends looking for homes. Visit spca.bc.ca/adopt to see all of the small animals up for adoption at our shelters.

If you’ve adopted a small animal from the BC SPCA, we’d love to hear from you! Tell us all about your cute little critters – their names, ages, favourite foods and activities! What do you love about being a guardian to a small animal?

Please note: These small and sweet animals were available for adoption at the time this article was written and may have found their forever homes since then.

Surrendered to the Vernon SPCA when their guardian could no longer care for them, DJ and Buttercup faced an uncertain future. Who would adopt them?

Luckily, their new guardian was just waiting for them, searching the BC SPCA adoption website to find her perfect bunny match. She found it in DJ and Buttercup, whom she adopted and renamed Halo and Kaia.

Halo and Kaia are now free to explore a bunny-proofed home, whether it’s hopping around or curling up together behind the furniture. When the weather is nice, they enjoy their time outside.

Their guardian says, “They are truly just little fluffy angels. Angels that chew on my couch. Thank you, BC SPCA. I will always adopt.”

Now THAT’S a happy ending! Read more stories of animals finding their forever homes.

eKids_Mar3_Furry FriendTom.pngMarch’s Furry Friend of the Month is Tom, a two-year-old cat who was brought to the SPCA after being found wandering the streets as a stray.

Tom is a bundle of energy and love. He gets along well with other cats and kids of all ages. He’s the perfect combination of cuddly, curious and playful. Tom is up for adoption at the East Kootenay SPCA in Cranbrook.

Please note: Tom was available for adoption at the time this article was written and may have found his forever home since then.

Visit the BC SPCA adoption website to find more furry friends currently looking for homes.
