Dog rescued from grow op wins Hero Award
Nuke, a big dog with an even bigger heart was recognized with a BC SPCA Animal Hero Award on May 4. Nuke was rescued by the BC SPCA in 2008 when he was found alone and neglected at a marijuana grow operation. After he was rehabilitated and adopted, Nuke's new family discovered that he had a Universal blood type and registered him as a canine blood donor. Animals like Kimmy need a Champion
When Kimmy was surrendered to the BC SPCA, she was suffering from the pain of an untreated broken leg after being hit by a car and had to go into foster care to recover. Jeanine Rawlings became her foster parent, but Kimmy had such a profound impact on Rawlings that she soon adopted her. Being able to give Kimmy her forever-home made Rawlings want to help other animals too. Learn how Rawlings became a Champion for animals in need.
