The summer issue of Bark! magazine comes out next week – and it’s a BIG one. This issue features stories about dinosaurs! While they lived millions of years ago, you may soon find out they have more in common with today’s animals than you realized – and can help us in our thinking about how we treat the animals in our lives today.

In preparation for this MAMMOTH issue of Bark!, we’re playing a fun dinosaur name game! What would your dinosaur name be?

Oliver-Adoption-tail_banner.png

Oliver_Adoption-Tail_300.pngOliver was just 14 months old when he arrived at the Comox SPCA after being surrendered as part of an animal cruelty investigation.

Once at the shelter, Oliver received much-needed dental work and grooming, and was neutered. Though somewhat shy and nervous, Oliver quickly won the hearts of a new family, who had this to say:

When I saw Oliver online, I just knew he was meant to be part of our family. We almost lost him to another family but lucky for us they decided against adopting him.

He was a very nervous and shy little guy but with lots of love and patience he has come around. He loves to play fetch and snuggle up with our cats.

He has brought so much joy to our lives. He is affectionate, very smart and playful.

It feels like he has been in our lives forever. We are so lucky to have found him.

Do you have an adoption “tail” you’d like to share? Email us a story and photo and your pet could be featured in a future issue of e-Kids!

Shea-and-Devyn_High-Paws_300.pngThis month’s e-Kids High Paws goes to Shea and Devyn!

These creative and generous kids made sock worms and sold them at their young entrepreneur fair this past school year. They chose to donate their proceeds of $71.80 to the Campbell River SPCA.

Thank you, Shea and Devyn. Your donation is truly appreciated by all the animals, staff and volunteers at the shelter!

Benny_Furry-Friend_300.pngJuly’s Furry Friend of the Month is Benny, a friendly five-year-old black and white cat.

Benny is currently up for adoption through the Powell River SPCA. He is known for his good looks (clearly!) but has an equally amazing personality. Benny is social and easy-going.
He’d fit in well with almost any kind of home!

If your family is interested in adopting Benny, contact the Powell River SPCA to learn more!

Please note: Benny was available for adoption at the time this article was written and may have found his forever home by now. You can view all the animals looking for homes, at all BC SPCA locations, at spca.bc.ca/adopt.
