class-photo-with-projects_482.pngWelcome back, teachers!
The school year has begun. We are so excited to continue to work with educators throughout the province to share a variety of animal-themed, B.C. curriculum-based lessons. With presentations available for all grade levels, and themes including empathy, dog bite safety, pet care, wildlife, farm animals and how youth can make a difference to help animals, we have something suited for every classroom.

Presentation booking is now open for the 2022/23 school year. Presentations are available in-person or virtually, for single or multi-session experiences. All include additional resources and lesson plans to expand learning. Your class may complete a project like the one pictured here!

Featured presentations
At the BC SPCA, our mission is to protect and enhance the quality of life for companion, farm and wild animals. Our classroom presentations reflect this mission. Here we share three options; to learn about all available presentations, visit us here.

Cat Tales (Grades 3-6)
What is life really like for an outdoor cat? And what effect do outdoor cats have on the ecosystem? Through stories, students will connect to real-life issues facing our feline friends. Students will be challenged to use their critical thinking skills to question socially acceptable norms and find creative solutions to issues.

Farm Animal Connection (Grades K-2)
What do farm animals need to be happy and healthy? Students will examine the similarities between themselves and farm animals to learn what farm animals need to live happy lives. (A more in-depth Farm-Food Connection presentation is also available for grades 3-10.)

Wildlife Wonders (Grades 3-7)
What happens when wildlife and humans share the same space? In this presentation, students will learn about real wildlife cases and the work of the BC SPCA to identify ways they can help ensure wildlife lead happy and healthy lives, with minimal human interactions.

More resources for teachers
Additional teacher resources including annotated book reviews, a guide for youth starting an animal club, animal-themed worksheets and more are on our website at spca.bc.ca/teacher.

From everyone at the BC SPCA, we wish you a great year, and hope to see you at a presentation soon!
