Pet on the Net

Though she is a social, fun loving rabbit, Rosie thinks she's a cat - she is even litter trained! She likes to cuddle with the cats, hang out on the cat post and even has a favortie cat toy.

Happy Endings

Happy Ending Story

At only eight-weeks-old, Mickey and his two litter mates were found on the side of the road in Prince George. Fortunately, a concerned citizen brought the pups to the local SPCA to be cared for.

October is Farm Month

Did you know that more than 100 million farm animals are raised each year in British Columbia? Whether it’s through animal welfare-friendly food choices, adding your voice to one of our farm animal advocacy campaigns or simply learning more about farm animal issues, you can create positive change.

Take action this October to improve the lives of B.C.’s farm animals.

Thank you for your Paws support

Thank you! With one walk to go, we have raised nearly $1 million for animals in need.

The final walk is Oct. 6 in Port Alberni. On Oct. 7 we will announce all the prize winners!

You can still donate to the 2013 Scotiabank & BC SPCA Paws for a Cause and don’t forget to like us on Facebook.

Better Care for Beef Cattle

A new national Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Beef Cattle was released in September, achieving higher welfare standards for millions of cattle in B.C. and across Canada.

BC SPCA representatives helped negotiate these new standards, which apply to every farm in the country. Read more about new codes for horses and beef cattle.

The farm connection

Knowing where your food comes from is becoming increasingly important in today’s society. Your kids can make the farm connection at one of our “Fabulous Farm Animals” youth workshops, being held throughout October in select locations across the province.

Keep your pet safe at Halloween

With Halloween around the corner it’s a good time to think about the animals in your household and their safety that night. All those weird loud noises as well as the little people traffic in and out of your home can be upsetting to your pet and can even lead to harm.

Check out our tips to keep your pets safe.

Cats and kittens rescued from animal hoarder

The Comox Valley & District Branch is caring for 18 severely ill Siamese cats and kittens rescued from a Vancouver Island hoarder. The seven adult cats and 11 kittens were found malnourished and dehydrated and suffering from a wide range of medical issues, including internal parasites, flea infestation, ear mites and mange.

Find out how you can help.

Donor of the month

Illuminations Lighting Solutions loves the BC SPCA! Since 2007, their compassionate owners, employees and customers have donated more than $15,000 to the BC SPCA through the generous sponsorship of the Victoria/Wild ARC and Nanaimo Branch’s Scotiabank & BC SPCA Paws for a Cause events, numerous charitable donations and customer fundraising, as well as advocating for adoption in their community.

Thank you Illuminations!

Paw Patter

Did you know that feeding a hen cottonseed meal makes her egg yolks green?

So, just like in the well-known Dr. Seuss book, you really can have green eggs and (SPCA Certified) ham!
