What do shelter animals want most? Loving homes to call
their own! You can help animals at BC SPCA shelters find their forever families
this holiday season. All you need is some paper and crayons!
3 Steps to Make an
Adoption Poster
|
To begin, decide on the type of adoption poster you’d like
to make. It can be about the importance of pet adoption in general, or you can choose
a specific adoptable animal you’d like to highlight! Visit www.bcpetsearch.com to view all of the
animals at the BC SPCA.
|
|
The next step: Create your poster.
For a general adoption poster, pick a catchy slogan to go
along with your drawing. Choose one of our favourites – “A Home for the Holidays”
or “Don’t Shop, Adopt!” – or make up your own!
If you’re highlighting an adoptable animal, draw a picture of the
animal and include his or her name, local shelter and any details potential
adopters might like to know.
Whatever you do, make your poster as eye-catching as
possible, with big, bold and colourful printing and drawing!
|
|
Now it’s time to get your message out there! Display your
poster at your school, community centre, shopping mall or anywhere potential
adopters might see it – just be sure to ask permission first.
|
Once your adoption poster is complete, we’d love to see it.
Send a photo of your poster to kids@spca.bc.ca,
along with your name, age and city, and we might feature it in a future issue
of e-Kids!

Brrrr… it’s cold out there!
They may have fur coats, but animals can still get cold. With
winter weather comes some special warnings for pet guardians to remember.
Read about our winter
weather warnings to help you keep your furry friends safe and warm.
BC SPCA Kids Club

December’s
Furry Friend of the Month is Prince, a lovely Lionhead cross rabbit.
Prince is currently staying at the Richmond SPCA as he awaits his forever home. This handsome gentleman has a beautiful coat that needs regular grooming. Along with these frequent spa sessions, he enjoys eating fresh veggies and playing in the grass in nice weather inside his pen. On the social side, Prince likes other rabbits and finds dogs quite intriguing!
Please note: Prince was available for adoption at the time this
article was written, and may have found his forever home since then. Visit
the BC SPCA website to discover more furry friends
currently looking for homes.
