Pablo Puppy’s Search for the Perfect Person
by Sheila Hamanaka

Pablo Puppy.JPGPublished by the Animal Welfare Institute, Pablo Puppy’s Search for the Perfect Person tells the story of a stray puppy, Pablo, who ends up at the animal shelter. There, he meets Natasha, an wise older dog who tells him what it means to find the perfect person – someone who will provide everything Pablo needs to be healthy and happy and train him using love, not fear.

Filled with colourful illustrations, Pablo Puppy’s Search for the Perfect Person is an appropriate book for children in grades 1 to 3. Readers will learn what it takes to provide good care to a pet. “Perfect people” come in all different forms; what they have in common is the understanding that caring for an animal is a very special responsibility.

School Club Tip

school club photo.JPGGet crafty as a club this month and create some animal-inspired cookies, bookmarks, cards, art or toys to sell at your school holiday events.

Handmade items are fun to make and are always a special treat to receive. Animal lovers of all kinds are happy to share their love of animals with others, whether it be giving or receiving.

Use your computer or art skills to create animal holiday cards or some funky animal art. If you have members that like to bake, you can find lots of ideas online for animal-themed baking or recipes for animal treats. Don’t forget about the small animals; they like their treats too.

Don’t forget to send us pictures of your projects and events so we can put them up on our website, as well as enter your club into the draw for some cool club prizes.

Current Events

The BC SPCA has found homes for more than 75 sled dogs taken into our care when the Whistler Sled Dog Company closed its doors… but there are still 17 dogs looking for forever homes.sled dogs e teacher

These dogs are very social as they have been used for tours and are used to being around people and other dogs. They will need homes with structure and routine to ease them into indoor family life.
