2014: A Year of Action!

Kaitlyn

Lachlan

Lachlan fundraised with gourmet popcorn!

In the first e-Kids Mews!letter of this year, we encouraged you to take action for animals in 2014… and did you ever! Here are just some of the ways you have helped animals this year:

You are all important voices for animals – THANK YOU!

Want to increase your impact in 2015?
Stay tuned to e-Kids and Bark! magazine in the new year to learn about Million Acts of Kindness, an awesome new campaign which will allow you to show the world how much you care for animals, one kind act at a time. We’ll be looking for examples of kind acts to share with kids around B.C., and you’ll have the chance to submit yours and be one of our featured kind kids!

Take Action Project

Holiday Hampers

Want to take action for animals while also helping pet guardians in your community? Consider starting a holiday hamper! People who access community food banks may also have pets to feed; you can help make their lives a little easier this holiday season.

1) Decorate cardboard boxes with wrapping paper and label them ‘Pet Food Holiday Hamper’.

2) With permission, display them at your school, church or community centre. Or keep them at home and invite friends and neighbours to drop by with a donation.

3) Deliver to your local food bank. Food banks will accept wet and dry food for all types of companion animals, as long as the packages are sealed.

Holiday Hazards

Watch out! Holiday decorations can be beautiful to look at, but some can pose a hazard to pets. Here’s what to look out for. Click on the image for a larger version you can print and give to your family and friends – so everyone’s animals can be safe this season!

Furry Friend of the Month

Millie

December's Furry Friend of the Month is Millie, a beautiful green-eyed cat at the Victoria SPCA.

Millie is a pretty girl who loves to play and cuddle. At six years old, she still acts like a big kitten! She can't wait to find her forever family.

Please note: Millie was available for adoption at the time this article was written, and may have found her forever home since then. Visit the BC SPCA website to discover more furry friends currently looking for homes.
