Substitute nest season success for baby robins
Some of the best wildlife rehabilitation stories are when no rehabilitation is even needed! A rescue and creative reintroduction can also do the trick. For example, three baby robins received a second chance this spring when Wild ARC's rehabilitation team created a substitute nest that allowed them to return to their parents' care.
Planning a summer road trip?
As you think about hitting the road and summer
adventures ahead, consider skipping entertainment events and facilities
where wild animals are kept captive. Avoid roadside zoos and attractions that
allow you to interact with wild animals; even when born and raised in
captivity, wildlife retain their wild instincts, and full welfare needs
cannot be met.
Kind acts for birds: Dogs and ducks don't mix
During spring and early summer, thousands of waterfowl are carefully incubating clutches of delicate eggs. Their nests and emerging young are at their most vulnerable. Your kind act is to keep dogs away from sensitive shoreline habitat so ducks, geese and swans have a chance to raise their young. Here are ten more ways to be kind to birds.
