Hot pets aren't cool
Many people don’t realize just how quickly their vehicles can become death traps for their pets during warm-weather season. With more than 150 calls about animals in hot cars already received by the BC SPCA this year, and more than 1,500 calls received last year, the society is again, reminding the public to leave their pets at home on warm days.

Help end animal suffering
Did you know that leaving a legacy can help thousands of outdoor-living cats throughout B.C.? This year, the BC SPCA is using a total of $70,000 from several legacies designated to the spaying or neutering of nearly 800 cats and rabbits throughout British Columbia to help combat the province’s massive pet overpopulation issue and end the suffering of outdoor animals.

Step away from
the seal
Humans aren’t the only ones who enjoy the beaches along B.C.’s coast. Starting in June, beaches are transformed into harbour seal nurseries, as female seals come ashore to give birth, nurse and protect their young. The BC SPCA is reminding people to keep their distance – pets included – as observing too closely can discourage adult seals from returning to their young.

Happy "tails"
Sidney came into the care of the
BC SPCA Port Coquitlam Education & Adoption Centre in 2001 when he was just a tiny kitten. Adoption quickly followed and he and his family have never looked back. Now, as he begins his 15th year, his devoted human sister has shared this loving tribute to Sidney.
