Twenty Greater Vancouver veterinarians and animal health technicians are generously donating their services to spay and neuter an anticipated 70 to 100 cats. Cat groups working with ferals or any member of the public feeding an ownerless, free-roaming cat are invited to participate.
Similar clinics are being organized at the BC SPCA’s other two vet clinics in Prince George and Kamloops later this spring.

Encourage them to adopt more progressive animal bylaws, or thank them for being proactive in making your community a more humane place for animals and people alike.
BC SPCA branch managers estimate less than five percent of stray and surrendered cats coming into shelters are spayed and neutered.
And of the approximately 20,000 cats the BC SPCA receives annually, nearly half are kittens, which indicates that people still aren’t getting their pets sterilized. Pet overpopulation has tragic consequences and is a problem you can fix!

Paw Patter
Many farm animals are neutered too!
Most male farm animals are castrated for meat quality reasons, but unlike procedures for companion animals, castration generally occurs without anaesthetic or pain relief.
The BC SPCA is committed to improving the humane treatment of Canada’s 700 million farm animals and is a leader in efforts to update industry codes of practice that include pain relief during these procedures.
The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization funded primarily by public donations. Our mission is to protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. The Society provides a wide range of services, including cruelty investigations, emergency rescue and treatment, sheltering and adoption of homeless and abused animals, humane education, advocacy, farm animal welfare, spay/neuter programs, and wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.
