Bark for the Classroom

Get the latest issue of Bark! for your class

Bark Magazine

The latest Bark! magazine is in your school library. In this issue you will find the mouse pet care guide, a special Farm Animal poster, and a Cat Care Quiz to see if you are ready to become a cat guardian.

There is also information on pet dental care and an endangered species profile on sharp-tailed snakes.

You will also meet some kids from around the province who came up with some very creative ways to make a difference for animals in our High Paws section.

Students will enjoy this colourful, informative magazine that they can reference for projects or read at their leisure.

Look for this issue in your library or order a class set of this issue by email. Include your name, number of students, grade, school name and address and we’ll package them up and send them off to your class.

Book Review

Ginger finds a home
by Charlotte Voake

Ginger Finds a HomeIn Ginger finds a home, author Charlotte Voake paints a heart-wrenching picture of a scraggly little cat who lives in a patch of weeds and spends his days searching for scraps of food and drinking out of puddles – that is, until a compassionate little girl takes it upon herself to give him a better life.

Using simple watercolour and ink illustrations, Ginger finds a home is the prequel to an earlier book by the same author, simply titled Ginger, in which the title cat is faced with a new feline addition to his home.

Ginger finds a home is a great choice for children in preschool to grade 2. It can be read aloud and may lead to discussions about the lives of homeless cats and how young people can contribute to fixing the problem, even if they are unable to take in strays.
