The BC SPCA is the only animal welfare agency with the mandate and authority to respond to complaints of animal cruelty in B.C. In 2015, the BC SPCA conducted more than 10,000 new cruelty investigations. While the majority of situations can be resolved through education and the issuing of orders, our constables also execute warrants to remove animals from dangerous and neglectful situations and prepare reports for Crown counsel recommending formal charges of animal cruelty.
