A cautionary "tail"
They met at midnight, away from prying eyes.
She climbed out the window and dropped to the ground, then sprinted across the yard.
He waited behind the garage, checking nervously over his shoulder as he eagerly awaited her arrival.
They ran quickly across the laneway, heading for the park and the grove of trees that would shield them from prying eyes.
When she started showing, she was kicked out of the house.
He ended up behind bars before too long, a victim of his own bad habits and too many late-night fights.
She ended up in a homeless shelter where she gave birth to six babies.
Did this heartbreak have to happen?
What went wrong with these two youngsters?
Where were their guardians when they were taking their futures into their own...paws?
Just one of the thousands of homeless families turned in to the BC SPCA each year.
Each year, the BC SPCA cares for thousands of unwanted and abandoned kittens and cats. Thousands more suffer and die alone in our communities. The tragedy of pet overpopulation is completely preventable when we all do our part.
2. Donate to the BC SPCA to support services such as free and subsidized spay/neuter services for low-income pet guardians and other life-saving programs.
3. Write to your local City Council urging them to support low-cost spay/neuter programs in your community. Your voice makes a difference.
4. Multiply the impact of this campaign. Forward this message to friends, family and colleagues.
