Tens
of thousands of innocent cats and kittens die brutal and unnecessary deaths
every year in B.C. because of human neglect. The real tragedy is that the
situation is preventable. As part of its new Strategic Plan, the BC SPCA is
developing targeted solutions for communities across the province to end the
needless suffering.Find out how you

Make your pet a star with the BC SPCA's annual calendar contest
Our popular Calendar Contest opens on March 18. The 13 guardians who raise the most in their fur baby’s honour will win a spot for them in our 2015 ‘I ❤ Animals’ Calendar. We’ve found the early birds have a far better chance of winning a spot, so sign up now and you’ll get a reminder to register on opening day. Contest runs March 18 through April 18, 2014.
Today's fad pet. Tomorrow's cruelty case?
Intelligence, curiosity and affection, all wrapped up in an endearing pink package. Sound ideal? Though so-called “micro-pigs” may seem like an appealing companion, they have needs far different from the average family pet. Sadly, when the novelty wears off and the realities of care set in, fad pets are often the ones who pay the price for their popularity.
More freedom for pigs
Thanks to our advocacy work and input from nearly 1,000 British Columbians, sow stalls are on the way out, right across Canada because there are new, improved Codes of Practice for pigs. You can take action for even higher standards by choosing only SPCA Certified pork products and asking for them where they are not available.
Adopt me!
Ferdinand is one of the friendliest rats you will ever meet; extremely
social and outgoing, this young man is ready to win his way into your
heart and home.
Read my happy "tail"!
Squirrel was very friendly and talkative but after a few months without any interest from adopters, staff decided to transfer him via the Drive for Lives program.
