What not to feed your dog
People food isn’t always good for your canine companion, no matter how much he might beg for it with heart-melting eyes. It’s usually best to refrain from sharing your meals and beverages with your dog, especially when it comes to certain foods. Find out more about what human foods can be toxic to your pet.

Helping animals has never been so sweet
During the month of February, you can join thousands of fellow animal lovers across B.C. and Canada by hosting a cupcake party at work, home or school to fundraise for animals in need for National Cupcake Day™, celebrated on Monday Feb. 27. It’s a delicious way to ‘bake’ a difference for animals!

From victim to hero
At first, she didn’t know how to play. She was emaciated, anemic, nervous and scared. But that didn’t deter local lawyer Chris Ness from adopting Emily, a Bernese Mountain dog seized with 65 other animals from a puppy mill in Langley last February, dubbed the Langley 66. Now a therapy dog with St. John Ambulance, Emily has come a long way.

Back to the wild
About to be released back into the wild, these raccoons are instantly curious, their dexterous black paws thrust through the carrier cages doors to touch their new surroundings before the doors are opened. Admitted to the Wild ARC last June as babies, the orphaned youngsters needed several months of care before being released back into the wild.

Happy "tails"
Petra was surrendered to the BC SPCA Vernon & District Branch in May, 2016 because her previous guardians were travelling and unfortunately Petra was unable to join. Petra wasn’t at the branch too long before her new guardians fell in love with her and knew they had to take Petra home.
