At the BC SPCA, we put farm animal welfare at the top of our holiday wish list by certifying farms that meet our high standardsof animal welfare.
This year, make your holiday meals even better by using SPCA Certified meats, cheese and eggs in all your holiday cooking and baking. SPCA Certified products are available across B.C. and this year include SPCA Certified turkey from Ladybug Manor.

Even animals need angels
The BC SPCA has a brand new way to make a difference in the lives of homeless, injured and abused animals.
Become a Guardian Angel today by making a gift online at spca.bc.ca/guardianangel. With your donation you can also send our staff and volunteers a special request such as giving your favourite featured adoptable animal a belly rub, ear rub, hug or back scratch and post a special message of support and love.
Antifreeze: Using pet-safe propylene glycol antifreeze instead of toxic ethylene glycol antifreeze could save your pet’s life. Tragically, a mere tablespoon of ethylene glycol antifreeze can kill a cat or small dog.
Bones: Avoid giving turkey bones to your pets. Poultry bones easily splinter and can cause intestinal blockages or lacerations.
Chocolate: Chocolate contains theobromine, which can be deadly to cat and dogs.

Help them find a home for the holidays
Photo caption: Snowflake will enjoy the holidays safe and warm with a loving new family.
Snowflake and two of her siblings were dropped off at the BC SPCA’s South Okanagan/Similkameen branch inside a bucket when they were just three weeks old.
The kittens weren’t quite weaned, so a staff member introduced them to a mother cat who was nursing four kittens of her own. Luckily, the mother cat took instantly to her new additions and soon they all found new homes – just in time for the holidays.
Consider adopting from a BC SPCA branch near you, and you can bring an animal home for the holidays, too!

In the spirit of giving this holiday season, we are honoured to feature the employees of BC Housing as the BC SPCA donor of the month.
Through their employee-driven Community Connections program, BC Housing connects with people living in poverty through the pets they love. BC Housing employees support BC SPCA programs, including Charlie’s Food Bank, through its donation drives, employee fundraising activities, and employer supported volunteerism. Thank you BC Housing!
To show our gratitude, we encourage all of our branches to name one homeless animal Laurelynn or Chimo after two BC Housing developments.
