Dr. Avrum Soudack has volunteered in the cat room at our Vancouver shelter for the last two and a half years. In that time he's taken pictures of over one thousand of our cats. His photos were featured in our April letter to our supporters about the current cat crisis. He is pictured here with one of his favourites; Lucy, a shy cuddle-cat who has been with us for a while. Hopefully Lucy gets a new forever home soon!

Many of us love cats for their independent spirit. It’s all too easy to forget they depend on our care and protection just as much as other companion animals do.

Sadly cats are often treated as ‘disposable’. I’m shocked by how often kittens are abandoned to a slow, painful death from starvation or exposure in a cardboard box or dumpster. ..
