Each $1.00 donated to the BC SPCA through this contest will be counted as one (1) vote. You will receive a charitable tax receipt by email for your donation votes.
The twelve animals with the most votes on May 10th at noon will be featured in the 2013 Animal Lovers' Calendar.
Your gift will mean that the BC SPCA will continue to be there for animals in need of rescue, protection, medical treatment and ongoing care until a loving forever home is found.
In appreciation for your support, you will receive a copy of the 2013 calendar by mail this October.
Thank you!
When our last dog died suddenly in April 2010 at the age of ten, we were left with a dog-less house. I started walking dogs at the SPCA as a way to get my dog fix, and to meet dogs. I knew we'd be adopting a new friend at some point.
I met Tzatziki in July 2010. He was in his kennel, and adopted me as soon as we met. He had been rescued from a hoarder and was very friendly. In fact, he had the most dog friends at our SPCA. The man who was the hoarder, did take care of his dogs. He had made sure the dogs had gotten neutered and tattooed. Tzatziki was in good health and of course, neutered and tattooed.
Tzatziki and I went for several walks together and became good friends. My husband met him one day in August, a couple of weeks later, and Tzatziki came home with us that day.
We thought of his name, and whether to change it. We tried out Zeke, as a shortened version of Tzatziki. It didn't suit him. Ultimately, we chose the name Helios, since we already had two cats with Greek god names. It turns out, being named after a sun god was a good choice for him. He has a very sunny personality, and is always smiling. He has been a wonderful friend who loves learning new things, and playing fetch. He is looking forward to when agility starts back again, since he LOVES that. (and he is very good at it too)
