$2500.00 raised in two days! Can we raise another $1250.00 this weekend?

In January the world was shocked to learn that 100 beautiful, healthy sled dogs had been slaughtered in Whistler BC. Thousands of people from all over the world were united in their grief and outrage that such an incident could occur. Since then many of us have come together to plan walks and vigils in the memory of the lost souls.

The SPCA has begun a criminal investigation into this horrific event, and has started the huge and sad task of exhuming the bodies of the slaughtered dogs. This investigation is the only hope we have of seeing the perpetrators of this crime brought to justice.

The investigation is going to cost $225,000. Forensic experts from all over the world are donating their time to the cause. The Government of BC has given the SPCA $100,000 for the investigation so there is still $125,000 that needs to be raised.

The SPCA has a special emergency fund that is used to fund situations like this. The fund is being used to support the investigation. Your donation will go specifically towards this fund.

Our goal is to raise $125,000, but we started with $1250.00 (1/100 of what is needed, which was raised in less than 3 hours!) The new goal was $2500.00, which we exceeded in another 24 hours! Can we raise another $1250.00 in 24 hours? Let's see if we can meet--or beat--this goal!

No donation is too small (or too large!)

If you live in Canada you will receive a tax receipt for donations over $10.00.

Help seek justice for the 100 lost souls. Your donation will make huge difference!! Please feel free to share this page with your friends and colleagues.

Thank you everyone.

In Loving Memory of Suzie, Norah and Poker, and the 97 other beautiful souls whose names we shall never know.

We have not forgotten you.

May the wind carry your souls fast and free to a lush meadow of peace and eternity
May your spirits soar like the clouds that sail the sky
and the thunder be your paws upon the ground
May our conscience strike like lightning if we forget the suffering you endurned until your time of rest

My post had a typo. My intention is to communicate that the owners of the business that murdered the dogs should be paying for this investigation.

Why aren't the owners of the business that murdered the dogs for the investigation. Hopefully they will have to pay for this when they are found guilty?

I?m so sad to hear that they are cruel people! Why did they do this? Why didn?t they give them? I had a husky and I cried days because of his death! We all loved him so much! He was our best freind! I hope that you catch this guy! Good luck for you all!

Blood on Snow

On Whistler's slopes
There's blood on snow
From a gruesome slaughter
One year ago

One hundred dogs
Of the Husky breed
Butchered by
A rich man's greed

In a holocaust grave
They all now lie
Hidden from
The public eye

Whether sled dog
Or unwanted pet
Sleep, sweet angels
We won't forget!
