Duke is a 3 year old red Boxer, who wants desperately to play and have fun. He is obedient, well-mannered, loves humans and (attempting) to play with other dogs. Unfortunately, after just a minute or two of play, Duke will struggle to breathe and start coughing.
He suffers from an under-developed aorta (heart valve) that has caused a severe heart murmur. When he is active or exerts himself in any way, his heart struggles to pump enough blood to the rest of his body.
He will require transfer to the lower mainland for special cardiac surgery there and he will need to be in our care until the surgery can be completed and afterwards during his recovery. He could go to a foster home as well.
He is an awesome dog. All the staff really enjoy him and have fallen in love with his great personality. We love that he gets along with most dogs and we hate to see him struggle.
Personal updates of Duke will be provided to anyone who donates to his campaign (when it closes).
*Goal includes: surgery, medication, vaccinations, regular health check, and daily care for Duke until he’s ready for adoption. If his medical costs and cost of care is less than is raised in his name, additional funds will provide care for other animals.
