This is sweet Lexie. She came into our care from a very sad situation – her terminally ill owner who she had spent all her 5 years with, was no longer able to care for her.
Confused by the unfamiliar, she arrived at our Nanaimo branch, there staff discovered an untreated leg injury to her left knee and hip. This injury is causing her pain and making it extremely difficult for this big girl to get around. She deserves to play and enjoy life pain free. Lexie was also extremely overweight and diagnosed with hypothyroidism.
Since coming into her care our staff have treated her with medication which has brought her weight down from 62.5kgs to 55kg! Vets want her to get to 50kg before the surgery to ensure the best outcome for recovery. It will take a couple more weeks for her to lose the weight– but we know she will get there.
Lexie has faced a lot of challenges in a short period of time – losing her owner, untreated illnesses and injuries, unfamiliar faces, but we can’t wait for her to experience life where she can run, jump, play and just be a dog – pain free! Will you contribute to her care and her happy new beginning?
Personal updates for Lexi will be provided to anyone who donates to her campaign
*Goal includes: surgery, medication, vaccinations, regular health check, and daily care for Lexi until she’s ready for adoption. If her medical costs and cost of care is less than is raised in her name, additional funds will provide care for other animals.
