In a matter for 48 hours Roxi went from her perfect, sweet, tennis ball crazy self, to fighting for her life. She had what is believed to be a severe post-op reaction to the anesthetic used during a routine surgical procedure. While monitoring her after surgery, we noticed a few alarming symptoms including jaundice, lack of appetite, dehydration and out of character behavior. Roxi's blood work showed that she was fighting sudden liver failure and immediate medical intervention was needed to keep her alive.
Roxi was rushed out of town for specialized testing and round-the-clock emergency medical care to save her life. After spending four days in intensive care, Roxi was strong enough to come back to us. Her condition is improving everyday and tests indicate that with continued support, her liver should make a full recovery and Roxi can get back to chasing her favorite ball.
Roxi came to us with a broken tooth and ended up in critical condition, fighting for her life. It all happened so fast - before surgery we were blown away by Roxi's speed and agility. Twenty four hours later, Roxi didn't have the energy to lift her head let alone chase her ball. It was a terrifying few days for Roxi and for everyone that had fallen in love with her. We chose to fight for Roxi and now we need help to continue that fight.
Roxi was a Christmas present and the gift recipient (former owner) tried for months to make it work, but unfortunately - at no fault of Roxi's - it just was not the right match and she was surrendered to our branch.
Roxi is something special, the perfect mix of love-bug and adventure partner and we know that her happy ending is within reach, will you help her get there?
Personal updates for Roxi will be provided to anyone who donates to her campaign.
*Goal includes: surgery, medication, vaccinations, regular health check, and daily care for Roxi until she’s ready for adoption. If her medical costs and cost of care is less than is raised in her name, additional funds will provide care for other animals.
