Angel came into care after being surrendered to an Animal Protection Officer. It was clear that this Old English Sheep dog was experiencing significant pain causing her to limp. It took a battery of tests to find out that at just over a year old, Angel was experiencing Osteochondrosis of the shoulder. Essentially, there are lesions on the bones in her shoulder. It is often caused by poor genetics combined with poor nutrition, but the vet thinks Angel's condition was due to a trauma she endured.
Subsequently, Angel is already arthritic (at a year old!) and sadly, there is no surgical fix.
Thankfully, with the extensive diagnostics done and the help of a specialist, Angel can live a relatively normal life, with a little help from you. Her tests were expensive and now she requires the development of a pain management program and rehab to build the muscle to take the pressure off her joint - without causing too much pain or stress. She will likely need hydrotherapy, and permanently limited physical activity otherwise.
We expect her to be in care longer than the average, as we now have to find the right home that is willing to take on a young energetic dog, that isn't allowed to just burn off that energy any which way. She is going to need special accommodations for the rest of her life.
We know the right person is out there though! We also know that you are kind, generous and willing to help this sweet girl in her journey to a loving home after a very difficult start to life.
Be an angel to Angel and donate to her rescue and care today!
Personal updates for Angel will be provided to anyone who donates to his campaign.
*Goal includes: surgery, medication, vaccinations, regular health check, and daily care for Angel until he’s ready for adoption. If his medical costs and cost of care is less than is raised in his name, additional funds will provide care for other animals.
