Mocha is a very sweet, active and high energy 2.5 yr old girl that has been through a lot of change in her short life. Adopted as puppy from the Victoria SPCA, her original owner suddenly found he was not able to care for her, so an elderly family member took her.
Sadly, the elderly family member did not know how to appropriately work with Mocha being excited about greeting other dogs while out on walks, so the elderly owner stopped taking her out of the house. This has caused a lot of frustration for Mocha, understandably so.
Thankfully, they realized Mocha was better off with someone else, so they brought her back to us!
At Mocha's intake, it was clear there was something going on with her knees, the vet examined and she has grade 3-4 bi-lateral medial patella luxations with mild concurrent hip dysplasia. Moderate angulation and torsion of both hind limbs. Possibility of requiring corrective tibial and femoral osteotomies... basically her hind legs are a total mess.
It's easy to understand how this would have been missed when Mocha wasn't getting out of the house much.
The surgery would have to be staged, one knee first, 6 weeks of recovery and then the second done.
A lot of people with the best intentions have left this adorable girl in a bad place. She needs significant medical care, but no one has stepped up to be there for her. Will you?
Mocha adores her stuffies and will happily amuse herself quietly playing. She is a darling and loves to have a good snuggle with you. Mocha has a very sweet nature, very gentle. Mocha deserves to be able to run, play, hike and go on adventures without being in pain.
Mocha is the sweetest and happiest dog, she is such a lovely young girl that has been failed at every turn - please help her get a fresh start in life by donating to her surgery and care today.
