Falcor came to the North Cariboo SPCA in Prince George with a horrible open wound on his back. He was cold and unresponsive as staff rushed him to the vet for intensive care. The little Pekingese mix was shaved, exposing his wound, which had a great deal of necrotic tissue and was covered with maggots.
“This dog has suffered immensely and deserves a fighting chance,” says BC SPCA chief prevention and enforcement officer Marcie Moriarty. “We have reason to believe that he was a victim of cruelty and are currently investigating this case.”
Falcor will need to undergo a series of tests including X-rays and bloodwork to assess whether there is damage to his organs but this poor little dog simply isn’t strong enough at this time. He is being monitoring closely and being provided with daily, life-sustaining care at the veterinary clinic. His medical bills continue to increase with each passing day and we expect them to exceed $5,000. It’s not yet clear if Falcor will survive.
We do not know how deep this innocent canine’s psychological wounds are or how he got such a severe gash along his back. What we can give him is a second chance to live and show him that there are kind people in the world who care.
You can help save this poor little dog’s life by donating to his medical fund
Falcor is depending on all of us to put our emotions aside *for the moment* and fight for his life. I wanted you to see this little adorable being that you are fighting for. And the horrible abuse we have to defeat.
There is an active cruelty investigation into his case, if you hear anything, please call our cruelty hotline.
Personal updates for Falcor will be provided to anyone who donates to his campaign.
*Goal includes: surgery, medication, vaccinations, regular health check, and daily care for Falcor until he’s ready for adoption. If his medical costs and cost of care is less than is raised in his name, additional funds will provide care for other animals.
